Elder Kevin Kioko (key-o-co) West is a native of  Washington, D.C. and was reared under the divine teaching of the House of Prayer Church of God. He completed his education in the District of Colombia Public school system.

Elder West dedicated his life to the Lord on December 2, 1991, and as his desire grew to embrace the fullness of God’s blessing of Salvation, he received the gift of the Holy Ghost on August 1, 1992. After acknowledging the call of God to preach the Gospel in September 1993, he made preparations to fulfill the call by attending Refreshing Spring Bible Institute in Riverdale, Maryland.

Since childhood, Elder West has demonstrated a heart and passion for servitude in his ascension through the ranks of ministry. He has allowed the Lord to use him in several capacities in service to his local congregation, the House of Prayer Church of God #1, as a choir member, usher, musician, deacon, music director, bible study teacher, Episcopal adjutant, co-chair of several committees and as past Vice-President of the Young Peoples’ Conference.

When time for love came it was right “beneath his eyes.” It all started when Ms. Felicia Brown asked him to teach her how to play the organ. Not only was there music on the organ but there was also music in the air. As the two met for lessons, Kevin began to be concerned about her soul. Being they both had been taught the same biblical doctrine from birth, he would witness to her about returning to her roots in Holiness and about being saved. As the Lord would have it she did return to the Lord and 3 years later they were joined together in Holy Matrimony. Needless to say that she never learned to play the organ, however when she’s asked what happen to her endeavor about the organ, she kindly responds “instead of learning to play the organ, I married that man that knows how to play.”

Having a great love for the work of ministry, Elder West always has sought out to strengthen his knowledge in Ecclesiastical Protocol, as taught by example in observance of various reformations of the Christian faith. Because of his wealth of information in this area of ministry he is recognized as a true “Churchman” within the Kingdom of God. With his God-given ability and keen sense of articulating, he has been extended countless invitations to facilitate and participate in Banquets, Consecrations, Ordinations, Church Dedications and the like.

God seeing the zeal of this young man to grow and to allow his gift to make room for him was asked by his pastor the Bishop Francis S. Myles, Sr. to assist in the rebuilding of Redeemed House of Prayer Church of God, Brandywine, MD. With the pastor and two members remaining at the church, Elder West (then Deacon) along with his wife, children and Missionary Gregory Johnson began to revive, rebuild and refurbish this branch of Zion. For several years Elder West served both House of Prayer Church of God, #1 as Music Director and Redeemed House of Prayer Church of God. It was a great challenge but God sustained him with the Grace to work faithfully and diligently at both churches. As souls were being added to Redeemed House of Prayer he was released to concentrate and focus his attention there, that the Lord’s house might be full. His commitment to the work of the ministry was rewarded when he was elevated to the office of  Elder in May 2005 and was appointed to the Board of Presbytery of House of Prayer Church of God, Inc in that same year.

As the Bishop watched he and the congregation grow, unbeknownst to Elder West it was time for another appointment, that of Interim Pastor in February 2006. Elder West was resistant at first and suffered a migraine headache that lasted consistently for nearly a month. After consulting with his physician it was suggested that he should be prescribed anti-depressants because of the stress that he was experiencing. God began dealing with him right there in the doctor’s office about resisting in taking on this new responsibility in ministry. Elder West told the doctor “I don’t need that prescription; I know what I need to do.”  After leaving the medical facility, he uttered these words, “Lord if it’s your will for me to lead this people, I submit to your will.” That very moment the migraine left and has not returned since. The little church continued to grow under the leadership of this “Man of God” with more souls being saved, bodies healed and deliverance being manifested.  Following the passing of the founding Pastor Morlean Gray in December 2008, Elder West was duly installed as Senior Pastor on November 15, 2009.

Elder West is the husband of Lady Felicia Elise West and they are the blessed parents of two gifted daughters, Erika Elise and Kristina Kezia (ka-zye-a). Elder West has committed his life to the work of the ministry in which the Lord has entrusted to his care. It is his greatest joy and desire to see the people of God walk in the assurance of knowing that “God is Able!” Eph. 3:20. “Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that worketh in us.”
